About Me

I am a facilitator who started my working life as a preschool teacher in 1988, then transitioned into adult educator and trainer in 1994, and then worked in various positions for a couple of years until I found my niche and became a facilitator of learning and change processes . My growth and development as a facilitator of learning, development  and change is continuous as it is a practice that demands ongoing work on yourself since ‘you are your own best tool’. It is a practice that has to be constantly adapting to the context, environment and needs of the group.

Growing up in South Africa during the height of apartheid we were awakened to the realities of an oppressive system. My family, the student movements and activist teachers played key roles in shaping me into speaking out and protesting. From the age of 10 which was the same year as the 1976 student uprising in South Africa during the height of apartheid, I had to begin my activism which took the form of speaking out against the systems of inequality. These formative years shaped me into the kind of facilitator I am today.

I have etched into my DNA, a passion for being a catalyst for change and helping individuals and organizations find their voice and inner wisdom, so they may move to the next developmental level. I have a strong commitment to working within the area of diversity, equity and inclusion – particularly in NPOs, universities and private companies, working specifically in facilitating processes around the areas of race and other forms of discrimination.

I believe strongly that in working with complex situations, you have to be astute at working with what emerges which demands strong intuitive capabilities.

My formative training as organization development practitioner, trainer and facilitator was in an organisation called CDRA – Community Development Resource Association www.cdra.org.za where I worked for almost 10 years. A group of 4 of us have formed a new association of practitioners under a new name called Tamarind Tree Associates www.tamarindtreeassociates.co.za

My other big passion is using creativity and artistic process to facilitate change and transformation. My facilitation processes always have a creative element and flavor since my experience has taught me that humans are inherently creative, fun beings.
